Boy Stuff With Brayden

Brayden spent the night this weekend and since it was just him and no girls too we decided to do boy stuff.

We met Kimberly at around 11:00 then headed to Cracker Barrel to eat brunch which we followed that with a visit to Home Depot (Depot per Brayden) to get some filters for the vents in the house.

While we were at Cracker Barrel we were trying to figure out what we could do with Brayden so he wouldn't get bored. We were thinking maybe a Tides baseball game but the game wasn't till 5:00. Then Brayden started talking about fishing which is his favorite past-time. So we decided to head to Hampton to the Bass Pro Shops. They have an aquarium there with lots of fish and it's just a neat place to go.

Of course, when we got there he headed right over to the fish.

he was too busy looking at the fish then look at Grandma

pointing at a Gar
They had a kids event going on where at certain times you would do the station and get a pin. Of course the fishing was at noon so Brayden missed that. At 3:00 they had shooting and hunting. So Brayden got to color a wolf paw print.

he couldn't sit long enough to finish it

Grandpa and Brayden BB shooting

He ht the target!

shooting the ducks with a bow and arrow

doing a little casting

he got his Shooting & Hunting pin

he liked getting into all the different boats they had on display

Then it was time to go so we decided to stop and get a drink and a snack to cool off. Brayden and I decided on ice cream at Sonic.

I hope Brayden enjoyed his boy time with Grandpa and Grandma this weekend. It doesn't happen often around here since Jeff only has two weekends a month off which needs to be divided amongst five grandchildren so it's usually filled with girls too.

Independence Day

Thanks to hurricane Arthur we weren't sure if we would be able to celebrate the 4th of July. Luckily the hurricane blew out by mid to late morning and the cook out was back on at Nicole and Dave's.

The cook out started at 2:00 and first up was pictures before everyone, especially the kids, went swimming. We missed having Kylie in the pictures.

There was cornhole, food, swimming, a little fishing and lots of fun to be had by all.

Around 8:00 it was time to head over to Kimberly and Jacob's for the neighborhood fireworks. Due to Arthur all city fireworks were postponed till the 5th. We were pretty bummed since it was nice and sunny out but it was still breezy and Virginia Beach lights their fireworks off on a barge so the water was a little choppy still.

We did get to see some fireworks down on their dock which was nice. What's July 4th without fireworks? Noah, Jackson and Haylee stayed down on the dock for a little bit watching them but it ended up being too loud for them so they headed back to the house. They were already too loud for Brayden so he stayed at the house for the whole thing. Hopefully next year a hurricane or rain won't come through so we can enjoy the fireworks.

Busch Gardens

Kylie is going to Illinois for a few weeks so we decided to have a sleepover at our house with Haylee and go to Busch Gardens. We originally were going to have them spend the night on Friday too and go to Busch Gardens on Saturday but the weather wasn't cooperating so we moved it to Sunday.

When we woke up on Sunday the weather wasn't looking too hot. It was sprinkling but Williamsburg showed it was suppose to be clear by noon so we decided to go ahead with our plans.

We hit some traffic on 64 so it took a little longer to get there than it normally does.

we have finally arrived

We hit Italy first so the girls could ride some rides and Jeff wanted to ride Apollo's Chariot. On the way to Italy, we passed Escape from Pompeii. Kylie loves that ride so Jeff and her rode it while Haylee and I went to get her some sunglasses. Mommy forgot to pack her some sunglasses or a hat and she needed some.

After Italy we went to Oktoberfest, the girls wanted to ride the big swings and it was getting close to lunch. While the girls were suppose to ride the big swings, Jeff went on the Verbolten. The Verbolten is a pretty new ride and it's always packed. Unfortunately, the girls were turned away on the big swings, they needed an adult to go with them. Kylie wasn't happy about that. Haylee went and rode the little swings while we waited for Jeff. After Jeff got back we all went on the big swings. Both Jeff and I don't like the swings as it makes us feel sick to our stomach, the swings go up and down. This time though we didn't do too bad since we hadn't eaten.

After the swings we went and had lunch at Das Festhaus and watched the show, Entwined. Jeff lost his hat on Verbolten so we had to get him a new hat after lunch. We then went to Land of the Dragons in Germany so the girls could play for a while.

Then we decided to take the tram over to Sesame Street Forest of Fun instead of walking. It's normally a pain to break down the strollers when we have all the kids so we don't usually ride the tram or train. Before we rode the tram though it was time for an ice cream break.

The girls rode the roller coaster in Sesame Street before they decided to play in the water. I thought the water might be a little cool since it had been raining yesterday and that morning but the girls said no it was fine.

They ended up not playing long in the water. By now it was close to 5:00 and we decided to ride the train since we didn't have any strollers. The train would be our last ride of the day. While on the train we saw some deer.

Kylie was about ready to fall asleep on the train. It was so nice and relaxing. Since the train depot is in Scotland we decided to stop by and pet the Clydesdale in Scotland.

On the way out the gate we stopped for drinks and a little snack for the road.

We had a nice day visiting the park.
